Quote of the Day...

  • "It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power." Alan Cohen

Welcome Back...

Well... I am finally back. For the record, I did complete the 21 day challenge.... *lol*

Then as we all know, life got in the way.  I also bought a new computer, finally made the switch to Mac and all the lovely little transition things that come with that.  Not complaining at all, just different.

To add to that, I decided to take two courses at once, so I can get my designation completed as soon as possible.  That was my April - July and both of my final papers were due on my birthday!

Despite the chaos at work, taking two courses at once as well as living the rest of my life - I have survived! *lol*

There is so much to get caught up on, but honestly you would probably be bored to death, so I will just start from where I am right now.

I am at home doing my 10th 3 Day Novel Contest, while trying to plan our upcoming trip to England.  What that really means is that I am taking a break from writing and figuring out how to meet my personal goal.  What is that you ask?  I want to pack for the two of us - for two week - in two bags. One carry on each.

Now for those of you who know me - yes, I am serious.   And yes, I realize how much of a challenge this really is.  For those of you who don't know me - typically I have my purse and a carry on, strictly to keep my items for the flights. In addition I usually have the larger of my suitcases with clothes and shoes, and a smaller one with just toiletries.  On some level I realize having 4 bags to travel for 3 - 4 days is ridiculous.

My problem isn't planning, as I do that really well. It is pairing things down and not giving myself options that I am not good at.  So... this is the first step in making my life more simple.  Yes, I am having to shop to make sure I am all matching and co-ordinated, so I can pack lightly and simply - stop laughing, you know this is true about me.  And today, I found my "accessory colour", which is now the final touch.

I had the black, white and grey all sorted out but wanted a splash of color that could tie it all in, dress things up or down as it were.  That color for today is orange/red/pink - persimmon color.  I think it is funny that it took me all this time to figure it out, when really I just had to look at my cosmetics.  Long ago I found that my skin had both pink and orange tones to it, so started using Orgasm from NARS as it has both tones represented in their blush, lips etc.,   Why it took me a few years to do the same for clothing, is beyond me.  But at least now, I know. I get it.

So.. what that also means, is that I am going to finally do what I have been wanting to do for a few years. Truly go through my closet and give myself the wardrobe that I want. Fewer pieces, that make the most impact and are interchangeable with each other.

Quarterly I go through and donate, but I think I may just try to post some of my clothes and shoes on ebay.  I certainly buy enough from there, so it might be interesting to see what I think of the other side.

Years ago I found out about a lady named Chata Romano and loved her approach.  That is what I am going to use to pack as well as go through my wardrobe.  I am going to be brutal, no sense in doing this half way.

Well, it is midnight and I am tired, but again, I will try to be here somewhat regularly... yes, I would like to spend this 10 minutes on myself every day, but that too will come.

On my way to being the best me, I can be. I hope you are too....
